History of the Temple:
Though the temple is known famously as Sri Venkataramana Temple now, the deity which was first installed and worshipped in the temple was that of Lord Vittala and the temple was originally known as Manampadi Vittala Devaru Gudi and is believed to have been established in the year 1277AD. The place was also known as Vola Lanka meaning Inner Lanka.

Sri Vijayendra Theertha Samiji of Kashi Mutt Samsthan had installed the idol of Lord Ugra Narasimha at the Mulki Venkataramana Temple. The Prathishta(installation) ceremony of Lord Ugra Narasimha was held on the day of Purnima (Full Moon Day) in the month of Margasheesha. This event is celebrated in every year with great pomp .
