Shree Shantadurga Chamundeshwari Kudtari Mahamaya Temple, Quepem, Goa

Shree Shantadurga Chamundeshwari Temple is in Ghudo Avedem village in Quepem Taluka in South Goa district of Goa. It is on the banks of Khushawati River. It is 45 Kms from Panjim, 600 Kms from Mumbai and 350 Kms from Mangalore.

This Temple was established in the year 1560 of Christian era, was in Salcete Taluka, of village Curtorim (Kudtari).

But in the16th century there were religious conversions and from this threat the devotees and public were forced to leave their places of Goa, and the Founders of Kudatari Temple shifted their deities which was more important for them than their own lives, to Shelvon in the area of Chandrawadi,

Tulsi

and subsequently it was moved to Ghudo ward of village Avedem in Quepem Taluka where it was established. 

Shree Maharangan Shilas

And till this day the Temple is there in the name of Shree Saunsthan Shantadurga Chamundeshwari Kudatari Mahamaya.

Shree Udangui

Shree Udangui is in ant-hill form with black granite Panchamukhi Sheshnaag.

Shree Udangi did exist there prior to the construction of Shree Shantadurga Chamundeshwari temple and was in front of this temple in a small separated Gruha (temple).

The Prime idols being Shree Shantadurga and Shree Chamundeshwari are adjacent to each other installed in a separate Girbhagraha

Shree Laxminarayan, Shree Ganapati, Shree Mahadev, Shree Grampurush – all four of these idols have been installed on the right side of this main temple.

Shree Ravalnath

Similarly, Shree Ravalnath idol is installed on the left side of the main temple.

Shree Prasad Linga

Shree Prasad Linga has been installed on the Chowk of the main temple on the left side which is made of glittering bronze metal.

In addition to above, right infront on the main temple in the Sabhamandapa on an almost two feet height stone structure in Shila granite state has been installed with carved two feet each side by side are considered to be the feet of the main temple idols of Shree Shantadurga and Shree Chamundeshwari.
